Here’s the next track: Love and the Actuary!
A special shout-out to the tremendous trombonist Cecil Scheib (of New York’s Hungry March Band and Cobra Gold) who’s great work fills this song out. Also thanks to Joel Howrani Heeres for the loan of his stand-up bass.
Response to the first track was great! Thanks, everyone for all the good words and feedback. I hope this next one also works for you.

Love and the Actuary
It’s a careful calculation,
not for the weak of heart:
the spreadsheets interlocking,
the variables at the start.
The moment’s been compiled
Each touch is in the store.
The words that pile higher
amount to little more.
The numbers don’t add up.
The choices far from clear.
The risk can find no calculus.
We’re getting nowhere here.
Oh no, you’ve got to…
count what counts,
count what counts.
Just a note — it seems that when this track is played through some computers built-in speakers the sound quality is such that the horns leap out way beyond everything else. This does not appear to be the case on headphones, stereos, iPads, etc. SO… just a warning if that’s the effect you’re getting, you might try a different medium….
nice vibes Jacob! Are you paying the piano, bass and drums? The trombone is indeed wonderful, but so is everything else. It all blends deliciously together, very nice mastering. It’s interesting hw you keep the vocals to the back sort of. It works well for this and has an interesting effect. Thanks for sharing .I love the website too and the slow release of each track.
Thanks, Kinga! Yep, I’m playing everything here except the horns. Sometimes live, sometimes via midi. Thank you for sharing too. I’ll look forward to hearing your thoughts on upcoming tracks.
